The Restaurant

The exciting addition to Clico was the new restaurant opened in October 2015. Off-street parking accessible from Jellicoe Avenue allows for easy access to Clico Restaurant. Clico has become renowned for being an intimate establishment, offering personalised service, and Clico Restaurant retains this theme. The space is a unique architectural design – a metal structure, triple volume ceilings and a flooding of natural light through the glass stack doors.  This refined food restaurant has in a short space of time become a refreshing and welcome addition to the Johannesburg dining scene.

 

Comfortable upholstered chairs lead to relaxing visits, and large sliding doors allow for a semi alfresco atmosphere. The glass stack doors allow the flexibility to divide the restaurant into two sections of differing sizes in order to accommodate private meetings, functions and occasions.

 

Clico Restaurant is open to the public who, with hotel guests, can enjoy our European-style cooking which is reflected in our tasting menus that change seasonally.

 

Clico is proud to be a member of  the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, an International Association of Gastronomy that brings together enthusiasts who share the same values of quality, refined dining, the encouragement of the culinary arts and the pleasures of the table in the appreciation of fine cuisine.

 

Marnus Scholly is Clico’s Head Chef!  Marnus is a graduate of The Chef School for Food and Wine where he completed a diploma in Food Preparation and Culinary arts. He started his career in Muldersdrift, then onto the KwaZulu – Natal area after which he relocated to Mpumalanga and worked at a well known safari lodge, further honing his culinary skills.

 

Evening dining at the sophisticated Clico Restaurant is well known for tasting menus which offer innovative gourmet fare with an emphasis on seasonal, local and organic products. Each course is complemented by unique, local boutique wines and emphasis is placed on sleek service and meeting bespoke requests.

 

Our six course tasting menu is a popular choice for a great night out. For the ‘not so hungry’ we are open to our guests choosing from our a la carte menu.

 

Lunch is a more casual affair, ideal for time pressed business meetings or a catch up with friends over a glass of wine.

 

Any patron keen to enjoy the tasting menu experience at lunch time need only ask when making the reservation and our Chef and his team will ensure to cater to your needs. Clico’s menus can be adjusted according to personal dietary requirements.

 

“I am very respectful of the classic cuisine and love to embrace it with a bit of South African culture. I am passionate about teaching and sharing all knowledge across the board and the “team” is the core of what we do here at Clico and I aim to create an environment where we can all learn, create and develop,” said Marnus.

Summer Tasting Menu

Our six course tasting menu is a popular choice for that very special occasion but for the ‘not so hungry’ we are open to our guests choosing individually priced dishes from our daily five course selection.

 

For private functions, clients have the option of pre-selecting a set menu prior to their event or occasion. Alternatively clients can enjoy working with our Chef to create their own bespoke and tailor-made menu.

 

Clico’s overnight and regular guests know that we understand and accommodate trending eating plans and individual dietary requirements and preferences. Besides a room service menu being available, enjoy our “open kitchen policy” and pop in to chat to Chef about special meal requests that will help you keep off the kilograms whilst travelling.
